Alerts and reminders are Internet tools that have gained more muscle in Web 2.0 and Learning platforms. Alerts and reminders help users and learners in relation to timelines for postings, comments, learning schedule, commitments, calendars, and others.

There are two ways to use alerts and reminders:

• Push from the sponsors, administrators or trainers
• Self-regulated by users
• Systems auto alerts

Alerts and reminders may be in the form of email, screen text alerts, color coded alerts.
